Planned by All in the Detail Design and shot by Emily Magers, this ‘Psychology of Love’ styled shoot at our historic venue, Ebell, is the ideal inspiration for couples that strive for an edgier and artistic wedding.

The florist, Corie of Foxtail Florals, elaborates on the inspiration behind the design, “ I have always wanted to take a more dramatic and crazy approach and do weddings a bit different… I don’t see everything as pretty, perfect, and sweet! I prefer more raw, emotional, and moody. Sometimes love is a bit crazy and it takes you to emotional places you cant describe… like a rollercoaster and that is what this shoot is all about.” – Corie via GWS.

Ceremony Inspiration

The Foxtail Florals team pulled inspiration from the “Rorschach” tests that are common in psychology by creating a large ink blog backdrop that set the tone for the shoot as well as the ceremony site. Along with the bold ink blot, the ceremony was complete by dabbling colors featuring greenery and florals of deep reds, peach and creams. Dramatic drapes framed the site along with votive candles on the floor.

The Reception

The reception table kept true to the theme of the day with gray chargers and black flatware by Classic Party Rentals. The menu cards and individual napkins mimicked the ink blog theme with ink blots and gold accents while the centerpiece brought the table together with a display of sprawling greenery, mixed with orange, peach, pink and cream florals.

The Details

The invitations by Darla Marie Designs were consistent to the black and white theme by creating invitations that featured ink blots with gold lining. For the bride who isn’t afraid to stray from the classic white gown, this bride wore an ethereal off white Sarah Seven dress with delicate jewelry from Petals + Stones. The groom looked sharp in a suit by Friar Tux sans a tie/bowtie. For dessert, Beverly’s Bakery crafted black and white macarons with gold flaked filling and a three tiered cake. The first two layers being grey toned while the bottom layer a beautiful geometric design of black, white, grey and gold.

To add to the total aesthetic of the day, violinist Josh Vietti played Closer, by the chainsmokers during the shoot!

If you aren’t afraid to stray from traditional wedding style, this styled shoot is the perfect place to begin thinking out of the box!
