Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Toast!

It’s official, Fall weather is here! Granted, Fall has been on the calendar for a while but LA weather had dictated otherwise with a heat wave a few days before Halloween.

“Oh Fall”, that time of year when the days get shorter and the nights get longer. Where that cold chill in the air lingers and makes you want to reach for your favorite comfy sweater or blanket and curl next to your family and friends.

That time of year that sparks the craving of comfort and tantalizes your palate with sweet, savory, warm and decadent aromas that fill the air with loving memories.

One of the ways we satisfy our cravings is by making some of our delicious

Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Toast! This is definitely a Trés LA Family favorite.

This amazing recipe is a great Dinner idea, not just for Breakfast and is a great spin on a favorite, French Toast! Serve it with a side of your favorite Sausage or Bacon.

Total Time: 24 minutes / Serves: 4


3 Eggs

¾ -Cup heavy cream

½ -Cup pumpkin purée

½ -Teaspoon vanilla extract

3 - Tablespoons sugar

1-Teaspoon Cinnamon

½ - Teaspoon Nutmeg

½ - Teaspoon Ground Ginger

¼ - Teaspoon Ground Allspice

8 – (1-inch thick) bread slices, such as Challah or Brioche,

Somewhat stale

¼ - Cup butter or cooking spray, more as needed

Powdered sugar, as desired

Maple syrup, preferably grade B, as desired

Instructions / Making Magic:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs. Whisk in the cream and pumpkin purée, then the vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice. Pour the batter into a wide, shallow baking dish.
  2. Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture on both sides, 1 to 2 minutes per side.
  3. Heat Waffle iron. Spray or brush waffle iron with generous amounts of butter or Cooking Spray. Place slices of bread on waffle iron and close lid. Allow 3-4 minutes to cook, until Golden Brown!
  4. Remove the Waffle Toast and hold on a baking sheet in a warm oven until all of the slices are toasted. Repeat with the remaining slices.
  5. Dust each serving with Powdered Sugar, if desired, and serve with warm maple syrup.
  6. Prepare yourself to be WOWED!
